Blue Belle entered a high kill shelter at the age of 10 in 2020. The shelter staff noticed she had an issue with her mouth and took her to the shelter vet where it was discovered she had stomatitis. She was given a steroid shot, but she really needed to get out of the shelter.
We agreed to take her into our rescue and took her to our vet who discovered she also had a growth between her shoulder blades, and she needed to be spayed. Poor Blue Belle, got spayed, had a dental, and had the growth removed in one day. We really didn’t want to risk putting her under anesthesia multiple times and our vet assured us that she would stop at any time if Blue Belle wasn’t doing well. We were thrilled that she did so well, and we know Blue Belle feels 100% better.
Blue Belle now goes in every couple of months to get a steroid shot to keep her stomatitis in check. She will need to get a steroid shot every few months for the rest of her life.
