Foster a Cat

Fostering plays an important role in saving the lives of homeless cats.  JSCR offers three foster programs.

Temporary Foster Care

As a temporary foster, you can foster cats that are available for adoption, or in some cases, cats who urgently need to get out of a situation and will ultimately transfer to Hannah’s House or to a JSCR Forever Foster.  Temporary fosters should expect to foster for around 3 months, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the situation.  All veterinary care is paid for by JSCR.  You just provide a safe place, love, food, and litter.

Felix

Hospice Foster or Furever Foster

If you have a huge heart for older cats, this is for you! As a Furever Foster, you become the permanent home for a senior cat and the cat will stay with you until he or she passes. JSCR pays for all the cats’ veterinary needs for the rest of the cat’s life. All you provide is litter, food, and most importantly, love.

Senior cats in this program are considered sanctuary cats and the ownership remains with JSCR and are not available for adoption. These cats will spend their golden years in your home loving you, and you get to love them back without worrying about the medical costs. Because this is a lifetime commitment, please only apply if you can commit to keeping the cat the rest of his or her life.

Senior Cats for Senior Laps

We have a third foster program called Senior Cats for Senior Laps.  This program matches one of our Senior Cats with a senior in need of companionship.  Read more about the program here.

Foster Application

If you want to be a foster for JSCR, you will:

  • Need to complete a foster application found here
  • Need to consent to a home visit
Don’t wait! A kitty in need is waiting for you!

All fosters are subject to a home visit.
